If you are kind enough to follow this occasionally-updating blog, my preferred hotel franchises are Hilton/Conrad and Accor/Sofitel, but, as my credit card company decided to terminate benefit with Accor group, this will end by the next year; as Accor group is so kind enough to sustain my preferred level towards the end of next year, despite of termination of benefit agreement with that credit card. In any cases, it is unlikely to feature IHG hotels so many occasions this year, simply because those are not my choice.

Intercontinental Osaka

is a north-end part of Grand Front Osaka, relatively new complex next to north entrances of JR Osaka station, connected by overbridge, so it may take 5 minutes from north entrance by walk; no umbrella required.

NOKA

is located in 20th floor, where check-in lobby and bar are also located, to serve all-day dining, from breakfast to lunch and dinner by buffet and grill, which means we can also enjoy omelette at breakfast, as well as grill dishes at lunch and dinner.

At breakfast, subject to your arrangement, once you are guided to your table, then staff should ask for a egg-grill dish to serve you; no need to queue up to grill section!

Chief appears young in the morning session, but his skill is as you saw in the picture: very typical Japanese chief-made seamless rugby-football shaped one, with juicy egg yolk inside.

Now, I am back to HCM City, Vietnam, as my annual routine trip. Guess I mentioned last year, now you can find traffic signals here and there. I.e., until a couple years ago, they do not need it but they can manage by their own paces. It is very surprised but when walking down the street of very central of HCM City, even pedestrian has many motorcycles so that the capacity of traffic infrastructure might be reaching to limit, or more than capacity of motorcycles run around in the city. Wow, urbanisation!

For my fixed point observation (?), since last year my regular hotel staying is moved to MGallary Hotel Des Arts Saigon. After their soft opening last year, now their operations are very stable, but friendly and more on the clients side. And big change since last stay in a year ago is having executive lounge at 22nd floor. Renovated southern side of rooms into a single lounge, very comfortable space is now welcoming you.

And, of course, you should expect their breakfast. Maybe thanks to strategy by Accord group, even at executive lounge, they give us their menu for our selection. From American to British, Chinese and local ones, you can feel more customer friendly lounge experiences there.

As for omelet, the theme here, this time I put two shots, one above is my second day: I asked "plain omelet" and this is the outcome, and the lower one is my first morning breakfast, with all their stuff, bacon, mashroom, ham, etc., inside. The above one might be called "scramble egg", if you are American (or Japanese) so you may feel more relaxed to call it as omelet. But in either case, egg tastes so fresh and well cooked. This year seems a year of domestic travel for me. While I am now waiting for my routine trip to South-east Asia in the coming month of October, I travelled to other sides of Japan for relaxing.

In my younger days, I rather travelled without reservation of hotels but driving car down towards our destinations so we stayed different hotels or Japanese ryokans every night. But nowadays, I am getting easier to stay at a single hotel, with various facilities, as if that hotel is my one and only destination, but to be honest, it is indeed easy and relaxed!

This time, we stayed in Nasu Kogen, a highland in Tochigi prefecture near Nikko, for summer break but just over weekend. It has various attraction, including tennis court that I love to play at, swimming pools, etc., so despite of gorgeous set-up, it is welcoming more family visitors, hence your dinner might be so noisy around, if you come just two of you to enjoy some romantic night with your partner. This is where it is for family, not for lovers.

But, their main dining has one principal, use neighbour farmers productions. Very fresh, but no need to say anything else to explain. Fresh vegis from farms picked in the morning, live stocks too, and our favourite eggs too!

And, chiefs are young but well trained. So dishes are not as cheap as ones you might underestimate from nightly rates and customers you see around. They fully utilise potentiality inside stuff so, even buffet style, while you should see some live cook performance here and there, I can predict you should be surprised its quality of cuisine, even at your choice of taste and style from western to Japanese, Chinese etc. (as far as available on your day), so you can also be satisfied with quantity.

And, breakfast omelet is no exception. Well-shaped, i.e., with seamless rugby football shaped omelet is cooked lively in front of you. With fresh eggs picked up in that morning, taste is so nice, no wonder. Sometimes you may be told to have fresher dishes to go there for local production, this is it. Nowadays, I could not find any good excuse to travel abroad, so my post to Omelet blog has been slowing down, so sorry about that.

But, I realise even Japanese trip information can be of your help, when you come to Japan, so I pull some omelet shots out of my stock in my online photo album to share. No worry this was taken in July 2016, not that old story.

Okinawa is one of best destinations for summer vacation for beach resort. And, as former ANA Hotel chain, and current international franchise, IHG, ANA Crown Plaza Hotel group is well-maintained portfolio of hotels with crown of ANA, a half of national carrier of Japan, so this hotel, despite of name of this hotel as "harbor view" but it only means the location as mid-level of hill close to local capital, Naha-City (note that even Google Map will lead you to wrong direction, say opposite side of hotel with no entrance), gives you relaxed atmosphere of southern islands summer time.

In typical hotels like this franchise, you can enjoy all-day buffet at main dining, and here is no exception. In fact, I really enjoyed being served a lot (indeed, a lot) of beef stake from grill as only eye contact with a chief in charge of the grill talked me again and again that you can have more :-)

And that grill serves a very hot and fresh omelet as above. Very simple (as I ordered a plain one as always for comparison purpose), seamless rugby football shaped omelet with juicy egg yolk inside. But no wonder in Japan. This is typical one you can have almost everywhere.

Omelette and Curry-and-rice at Satsuma, Kanda, Tokyo, Japan

It was, simply fabulous and I did not expect that much brilliant omelette to be served at the lunch of a small bar, located at one of back streets of Kanda crowded with small bars and local cuisine, one station north by Yamanote Line from Tokyo terminal.

And, you, as one of the keenest omelette lovers in the world, might feel strange that omelette is served with curry-and-rice. Yes, Japanese chiefs made innovation and fusion on every imported dish from overseas; this curry-and-rice was originally introduced from England, not India, after Brits invented curry powder to cook Indian curry at their home country, so Japanese firstly got to know curry as "western cuisine". And over the centuries, Japanese keep innovated this curry-and-rice into more Japanese style, and in fact this Kanda area is very famous for curry; more than 150 restaurants, from Indian and south-east Asian restaurant to western style ones, and bars and even ramen shops, serves their own receipt of curry every day.

So... who ever combined curry-and-rice and our holy omelette; what a combo! Next time you come to Tokyo, all you have to visit for omelette is, not a breakfast buffet at Imperial Hotel, though it is of course worth to have, but this Satsuma. After enjoying Japanese sake, then you should try this :-)

Happy Omelette!
It was indeed my first travel to Taipei, Republic of China. Landed at relatively small Songshan Airport, bought a local prepaid SIM as usual routine when travelling abroad, and headed to a hotel where was my stay this time by walk along a broadway immediately connected to the airport down to south for 10 minutes. Then I found a relatively new but classic style building with a shopping mall; this is Mandarin Oriental Taipei, opened in early 2014.

Interior is new but classic, functional but gorgeous; very "Mandarin Oriental" style which you can find everywhere you stay at Mandarin Oriental. Indeed, a concept of bath in each room is very next to bed so that you can see outside, especially sunset even in the bath tub (with a glass of sparkling wine, if you feel something special), and this is quite resemble to MO Tokyo.

Unless you are granted for executive lounge access, your breakfast is at their cafe; Cafe Un Deux Trois, MO Taipei. Like others, they serve in buffet style, from western continental ones to Chinese local cuisine, and omelette is to be asked for order to staff, not chief at the grill, with your preference. So unfortunately I had to miss omelette on the day 2, my first breakfast in Taipei, as it seems staff might have forgotten my order to convey due to miscommunication between staff and me (or staffs, I do not know)... But, I at last got my breakfast as my preference as above on the day 3; with smooth surface and no seam... You may also enjoy another dishes from grill like french toast, Bergen waffles. Enjoy!
After my last trip to HCM City two years ago, I completely missed to find my good excuse to come back here, but this city has been kept changing a lot here and there, to have this new boutique hotel under Accor hotel franchise. I was lucky to be one of the first guests during their 90 days of soft opening period so that all the hotel staff really and literally took care of me well as if an old friend, but to check their operations work as on their plan.

Their breakfast at 2nd floor, Saigon Kitchen, appears same format found around the world, as breakfast buffet, however, you may be stunned for the lineup of cuisine, from typical western / continental breakfast stuff to local pho, with two hot grills. One is for sweet crapes, to top with caramel, chocolate or berry sources, and the other is, no wonder, our favourite omelettes.

As you see above, the cook carefully prepared and brought to my table for me, a seamless rugby-football-shaped omelette nicely and softly. If, as Japanese I am can say one more, it might be nicer to cook as half-cooked so that we could have enjoyed egg juice leaking out when you put your fork into it.

Now I got a new home in HCM City, with reasonable nightly rate, so all I have to do next is to work hard to find another good excuse to bring myself back here.

Simply, it was a sort of "City Break" for me to stay overnight at Royal Park Hotel, where is 10-15 minutes distance by car from my apartment in Asakusa, Tokyo. But, unusual experience always gives me a break: calm and silent night, with no computer, no smartphone ringing, but laying on the softly cushioning bed and reading some books which I bought and left for a month or two unopened.
And, another joy for me after overnight at a hotel is... no wonder. Omelette.

Thanks to hotel arrangement, I had an access to their executive lounge in 20th floor for breakfast (and, no exception for lounge service, your favourite cocktail for evening if your check-in was early enough) and I enjoyed their buffet style breakfast. And... they assigned one chief for hot grill for... omelette.

As always in Japan, omelette is seamlessly yellow rugby-ball shaped as if all the chief learned from one-and-only master but reality is not; even at home, we would expect that shape and seamlessness. And, once I saw that, I feel comfortable :-)

Executive lounge was, more or less anywhere from hotels and airports, a bit crowded, but it was Sunday 8 a.m., so people including me was a slight late / slight early starters for sunny late summer Sunday.

Our common understanding about Osaka is "a city for cuisine". Traditionally, various technique and presentation of dishes to the rest of this countries, while, of course, local fresh vegetables, fish and meats drives directions of local cuisine, but influence of "a city of cuisine" as trend is unavoidable.

But, as for omelette, a cooking technique is quite back to basis, to cook a simple rugby football shaped, seamless omelette appears to my table. One interesting innovation by this hotel is that you have to pick one stick, with labelled your table number, to bring to chief's grill area, to put your stick into a cup together with your favourite ingredients like ham, bacon, vegetables, etc. Then, two smily female chiefs will cook for you and floor staff will serve you, by finding you with that stick. Shame you cannot give any grace to chief cooking, but just laid back to chair to wait for your omelette. Smart enough, efficient enough for busy morning hours...Shinobuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04130828568211580051noreply@blogger.com0日本, あべのハルカス(バス)(大阪)34.64631 135.5137999999999534.6201945 135.47345949999993 34.6724255 135.55414049999996tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-846857315847197402.post-37095524293814732462015-02-12T00:02:00.000+09:002015-02-12T00:02:42.860+09:00Vivre - L'experience des saveurs, Sofitel London Heathrow, London

From Jersey back to Tokyo is not an easy travel. From Jersey to London, most likely you may fly with BA, as the long-haul flight is BA for more reasonable priced ticket, then you should be firstly touching down at Gatwick. Then 70 minutes of journey to Heathrow by coach follows. As typical flight schedule from Heathrow to Tokyo is around noon, considering this extra 70 minutes journey, you may have to catch the first flight back to London, but early morning flight has a risk of cancel or delay due to fog thanks to geographic isolation of isle of Jersey by relatively warm sea. So you had better leave there in the prior day and have a sleep somewhere in London.

All we know, central of London is more expensive for nightly rate, and less quality with typical airport hotels; except Sofitel London Heathrow. It stands at the prime location, just 3 minutes away from Terminal 5 (no need to walk through a long tubular for "just SIX" minutes form Terminal 4:-), and very sophisticated appearance and services, facilities, and restaurants and bars which are uncomparable with typical airport hotel.

Among them, my favourite is wider range of buffet at Vivre. While I recommend you to try their "Miso soup", which is nice to try before back to Japan, their omelette is as above. Not that bad as similar in London, many folded one, with your a pick of salt and pepper needed, yes, you are yet in London :-)

And I was also back to Jersey, after almost two years of missing reasons for visit. Thanks to local financial service industry, relatively wealthy but small and calm island has been stayed as it has been, while I recognised some bit small changes here and there in the town of St. Helier. But, a big surprise is with my favourite hotel in Jersey, for its renewed restaurant as appearance.

But, they keep serving their pride of "Super Breakfast", and free range eggs for my omelette. And they also keep serving the same omelette, no seamless rugby football one, yet. Of Jersey, nothing has changed in principal :-)

In January, 2015, I was lucky to have a good excuse to be back to London. And one of my routine in London is to see my good ex-boss at the breakfast table near his office in Canary Wharf. Carluccio's seems, regardless of my favourite routine visit, famous for its splendid but reasonably-priced breakfast, even though they have a big franchise in UK, so always crowded.

My favourite here is, in fact, "Colazione Magnifica" for my choice of free range eggs, but that morning they did not accept it for omelette, so I had to order a simple omelette with mushroom as above :-)

Taste? Yes, it is as always, I put some salt and pepper on it, it is yet another routine in London.

5 years after, I am now back to Hanoi, Vietnam.
As same as HCM City, or even more, capital of Vietnam has been developed further, wider highways, more high-rises, more cars, but more people and warm atmosphere have not changed.

And, I am back to Sofitel Legend Metropole. While I was told it has been kept redeveloping, it keeps its tradition to sustain their hospitality which I have been in love with them.

Now, let's see our favourite dish. To top on a slice of the back truffle, they serve a mixture of vegetable into egg source for cook, with seamless rugby football shape. Yikes! Inside is well-cooked but you can enjoy a bit of egg source in a juicy manner which I like.

In general, they are operating exclusively for their executive lounge customers, but I suppose they offer this omelette as a part of breakfast menu at restaurant for hotel residents.

At last, I came back my second home, after losing any business reasons to visit to Hong Kong since December 2012. But, it remains there; appearance remains, staff too. But, Pacific Place proudly announces its 25th anniversary, so that renovation here and there is unavoidable for the visitors being attracted to come back, naturally, and our executive lounge is also applicable.

More stylish appearance, and more spaces (this means less kitchenette behind the scene), hence more tables and chairs, but more comfortable indeed. And dishes served there is even more: free accessed oven, keeping temperature around 70 degree to keep your bread and scone warm, bigger fridge offers more drinks and cold fruits and home-made yogurt. And, better omelette :-)

The day I took a shot was a day for omelette with bell peppers, with almost seamless rugby football shape, though it was served in a large pan with steam warmer (you cannot expect your chef cooks for you by order due to space), but considering past experiences in HK, it was indeed improved. Well done!

I now started to find and create another excuse to be back my second home now :-)Shinobuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04130828568211580051noreply@blogger.com0Conrad Hong Kong, 88 金鐘道 金鐘 香港22.2768237 114.1653472000000422.276364700000002 114.16471670000004 22.2772827 114.16597770000004tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-846857315847197402.post-15432530723801803272013-09-22T13:37:00.002+09:002013-09-22T13:37:30.334+09:00Kingsway Hall Hotel, London, UKNow that I am back in London after arrested in Tokyo for 8 months due to many reasons. This time is my first ever participating an weekend offsite meeting of a company group, yes, still business but many to learn, many to know and many to come across. Interesting indeed :-)

And, I won't miss this opportunity lol

The offsite meeting has been held at Kingsway Hall Hotel in Covent Garden, London. Unlike my preference, no Hilton, no Accor group, but a private family own, a sort of boutique hotel, refurbished from a theatre.

Room is simple but pleasant interior, with fast-speed wi-fi (with no limit of data transmission), so no stress to work at room :-p But, whirlpool is... just a spa so do not have to bring your goggle for serious swim :-)

Okay, now is the time to talk about breakfast. Quite British buffet style, so you won't miss black pudding and potato, as well as a range of cereals as usual. A breakfast included to BB rate serves you two free range egg, say omelette, inclusive (yikes!).

As you see, hum... two-folded style of omelette, with less egg juice, maybe I asked bacon and mushroom in it, or not. But, thanks to crispy bacon and , you can enjoy mixed textures of crispy, softness and chunky :-)

It may be good to stay at boutique hotel in London, with very private atmosphere like this.Shinobuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04130828568211580051noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-846857315847197402.post-85271691429037709802013-02-02T03:37:00.000+09:002013-02-02T03:37:31.339+09:00Radisson BLU Waterfront Jersey, St. Helier, Jersey

And, I at last came back to Jersey, Channel Islands after 18 months of missing, due to a big fact that a year 2012 was an Olympic year in London so that I was anticipated not to work once I came to U.K. so that my smart boss prohibited to come to UK.

After 18 months, I saw many changes in London, and even Jersey too.

My second home in Jersey, Radisson BLU Waterfront Jersey got a big blue sign on the top of the building, replaced its fitness operator, etc., but their pride of "Super Breakfast" remains as it is.

But.... as you saw above, omelette shapes different from what we saw before that I suppose you agree when you saw my past article. I would say here, innovative shape, however, I wonder if it is comparable with other omelettes around the world...
I missed any good excuse to come to London in 2012. I might have been considered that I should be around Wimbledon during Olympic Games so that I should not be in UK in the year.

But, now is 2013 and I am back to London. And, booked at a hotel I stayed last time.

There seems no change in any sense, appears classic London hotel, and reality is no difference from your perception when you stood at their gate. And you feel the same when you approach to the reception of Caxton Grill in the morning. Very classy interior of bar area to restaurant area, and variety of selection of bread, cold cuts, fresh fruits, etc., any of them claims their impressive tastes as well, and no exception with omelette.

Round-shaped very smooth skin at appearance, and half-cooked inside to enjoy a bit of egg source with stuff. Yes, I came back to UK now.

It was almost 20 years after I came back to Kowloon peninsula to stay when I got my first passport in my life to come to HK with backpack, to find and stay backpacker hotel to follow a novel I read at that age.

After I started my career as business person, I have been lucky enough to avoid my first overseas experience to stay at relatively luxury hotels in Hong Kong island every time I came to HK.

This time, as suggestion by one of my friends of hotel woman, I booked at the captioned hotel, in Kowloon side. This hotel is among other classic hotels in TST East, around 5 to 10 minutes walk distance, and thanks to neighbour of Hotel Nikko, I recognised more Japanese tourists around this area (and I was recognised as Japanese, too). So, if your meetings are arranged in island side, you may hesitate, as you also need to top up another 5 minutes to cross habour by MTR (and actually I did), but once you start to live there, you realise this extra 10 minutes is comfortably nice to cool you down from heated discussion during meetings.

And, this hotel proudly offer their lounge in 1st floor, whoever can use once you pay a bit of extra cost for lounge. But it is indeed worth to pay for it. At the evening cocktail hours, their wine list is quite unique enough to enjoy, and quality of finger foods are yet another enjoyable ones from their kitchen. SO, you can anticipate its quality of breakfast, too.

Indeed I was surprised when I found a list of dishes to order-to-cook for breakfast. It is rare to find such arrangement (I only saw at Sofitel Sigon before), and moreover, it includes omelette! And, again and again, you should surprise that you can see and enjoy seamless, rugby-football shaped well-cooked omelette!!!! As you know I only saw three-folded omelette in HK, so I believed until then that three-folded ones is the one-and-only standard form of omelette in HK...

I would, no wonder, come back there, worth enough to enjoy their omelette again.
Yeouido is located south-east of Seoul special district and called Manhattan Island of Seoul, and indeed financial regulators as well as well-recognized financial institutes have offices in the island so you may expect convenience for meetings if you work in financial industry. However, to get there from airport by train, there is no direct access even from Seoul's central station (changing Line 1 to Line 4 at Singli station) with 30 minutes, or no direct access to other major cities like Gangnam and COEX area (approx. 50 minutes with Line 9, 3 and 2!) or Myongdong (approx. 40 minutes with Line 4, 1 and x) and... MAE is 10 minutes distance on foot from the closest exit #5. I.e., if you are self-concluded personality like me who prefer to use trains as commuter rather than taxi which you hesitate to speak in Korean to indicate where to go, with a doubt of unclear mis-communication, you might feel a bit inconvenience instead. And... Neighbor of MEA has almost none of shops or restaurants so you need to go back to Yeouido station and beyond business buildings area, but you never expect to communicate in English (or Japanese for me).
BUT.
If you decide to stay within the MEA complex, they have comfortable dining, like Paul's, which you can find in London, Paris (of course) and Tokyo, and Park Cafe, which serves buffet dining from breakfast to dinner like this, as well as SOO spa and gym offering quite pleasant spa like you find in Tokyo, big baths and variety of saunas.
Okay, back to our favorite omelette.
After ordering a familiar "free range of egg, with variety of stuff like mushroom, onion, ham etc.," mine was delivered, yes, you do not have to stand in front of the chief to see how he cooks. See, well-round-shaped, seamless omelette. How nice! If I can say a bit more, bit too well-cooked so you have less egg juice when you chop it with your fork. This is quite depending on your preference, you like egg juice to enjoy half-rare or well-done...
Enjoy!

Many of you might know, I love Conrad Hong Kong, where the some of staff recognize me so I feel it as second home. Last December was another chance to come back home, while I have been missing as hotel rates in HK in general rose high as double comparing with a couple of years ago, but it appears nothing changed, all the staff I recognise are around and they recognise me too :-)

But, one notably discover was that I found a couple of staff in black at Garden Cafe, and one of them made a perfect omelet, with seamless round shape. Shame, I did not bring my iPhone or cam with me on that day, and that was only when I got that occasion... I must come back again, so soon...
Sorry to put this to omelette blog but, it was something I got impressed to "Egg Royale"
1 or 2 eggs on toasted muffins with smoked salmon & Hollandaise at The Old Brewary Cafe, in the Old Royal Navy College, where is very close to the Royal Observatory, the meantime of the world.

Not just presentation as above, texture is something I get to love it :-)
If you are tired of too much omelette, you must try something else :D
During travel around the world, sometimes you are tempted to go out for breakfast. Taking a fresh morning air under new sun shining, it should be another good idea to start off your busy day on the road, than starting at gym to sweat :-)

In the central London, very close to famous street of Old Bond Street, Cecconi's is there to serve your breakfast, lunch and, no need to say, dinner in a very classic Italian mood. I.e, omelette is... as it appears as above, very continental style. But, it is worth to enjoy when in London ;-)

When thinking about staying London, there are so many (but not X) factors to choose hotels, or even areas: where you land, where you mainly visit in London, where you are going out of town. My typical case is that I am to land at Heathrow, see people in City and Dockland, and leave from Gatwick, or vice versa. So, staying around Westminster, or to say Victoria, may make sense but I have never done, so St. Ermin's, where it is renovated early this year, appears some perfect location to hop on / off Gatwick Express late evenings.

As recent renovation, rooms are quite functional, but I recommend you to bring Airport Express to extend your internet access to your iPhone, iPad and laptop computers together. And... breakfast, where we must argue here, as this is not gadget-driven emichanproduction.com.

The Caxton Grill is the venue of the breakfast buffet, with priced as GBP 19, but you need to top up another GBP 9 for your cheese-and-onion omelette or full English. Obviously choosing full English is more reasonable to enjoy cuisine, but half-raw juicy omelette is, though not seamless rugby-football shaped, worthwhile to taste.

Some of you might have noticed, I am on the road to round-the-world tour. But, having said that, Istanbul, Turkey, may not be considerable place to visit, while you can kindly ignore the fact that my stay in Istanbul started from Saturday to Sunday.

There are several reasons behind like:

Turkey is one of interesting emerging countries, where dare to put itself distance from EU, to end up with escaping from turmoil impact recently.

From HCM City with Star Alliance, there are several destination such as Singapore, Bangkok, Frankfurt and Istanbul, and it seems much attractive with Istanbul than Singapore or Bangkok while a flight to Frankfurt was fully booked.

Staying in Istanbul should give me good ideas for blogging lol.

But, on the day I arrived at Istanbul, it was rain, and kept raining until next day when I left hotel, and indeed I had less sleeps during the week so that I felt to say whole day in the hotel....

This is, obviously, what I had for breakfast, as routine of omelette as well, and you should recognise this is two-folded... I started to doubt that Radission Blu has a common recipe of omelette around the world so that we can enjoy same omelette in Istanbul and Jersey... Am I correct, Mr. Radission?
