The Caxton Grill, St. Ermin's Hotel, London

When thinking about staying London, there are so many (but not X) factors to choose hotels, or even areas:  where you land, where you mainly visit in London, where you are going out of town.  My typical case is that I am to land at Heathrow, see people in City and Dockland, and leave from Gatwick, or vice versa.  So, staying around Westminster, or to say Victoria, may make sense but I have never done, so St. Ermin's, where it is renovated early this year, appears some perfect location to hop on / off Gatwick Express late evenings.

As recent renovation, rooms are quite functional, but I recommend you to bring Airport Express to extend your internet access to your iPhone, iPad and laptop computers together.  And... breakfast, where we must argue here, as this is not gadget-driven emichanproduction.com.

The Caxton Grill is the venue of the breakfast buffet, with priced as GBP 19, but you need to top up another GBP 9 for your cheese-and-onion omelette or full English.  Obviously choosing full English is more reasonable to enjoy cuisine, but half-raw juicy omelette is, though not seamless rugby-football shaped, worthwhile to taste.

StarBoat, Radisson Blu Istanbul

Some of you might have noticed, I am on the road to round-the-world tour.  But, having said that, Istanbul, Turkey, may not be considerable place to visit, while you can kindly ignore the fact that my stay in Istanbul started from Saturday to Sunday.
There are several reasons behind like:
  • Turkey is one of interesting emerging countries, where dare to put itself distance from EU, to end up with escaping from turmoil impact recently.
  • From HCM City with Star Alliance, there are several destination such as Singapore, Bangkok, Frankfurt and Istanbul, and it seems much attractive with Istanbul than Singapore or Bangkok while a flight to Frankfurt was fully booked.
  • Staying in Istanbul should give me good ideas for blogging lol.
But, on the day I arrived at Istanbul, it was rain, and kept raining until next day when I left hotel, and indeed I had less sleeps during the week so that I felt to say whole day in the hotel....
This is, obviously, what I had for breakfast, as routine of omelette as well, and you should recognise this is two-folded...  I started to doubt that Radission Blu has a common recipe of omelette around the world so that we can enjoy same omelette in Istanbul and Jersey...  Am I correct, Mr. Radission?

Sofitel Club, Sofitel Sigon Plaza

As you, my dear readers, should have known, HCM City is getting become one of my routine destination, and Sofitel Sigon Plaza is also recognised as my usual stay in HCM City, thanks to warm welcoming staff at Club Sofitel and their hospitality to make me relax.

And, as you know, they serve "spanish omelette" for breakfast, as one of a la carte dishes, as above, but this time I tried scramble egg as below:

Wow, scramble egg has shredded smoke salmon!  I like this recipe indeed, which I firstly enjoyed at manor house in Jersey.   Now I got another good reason to come back there :-)

Greenhouse, Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore

It was more than 11 years ago when I came and stayed here at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore.  I came with my family, though it was a business trip, and spent three weeks, so a lot of memorable events and incidents happened to me and family.
And, now thanks to my ex-colleague who is now one of most important client, I could stay here with quite reasonable nightly rate, and enjoy omelette.  I could not recall how they cooked here, but I saw this time with more interests and found, yes, here is not HK, or not Conrad Centennial Singapore lol.
They tried to form seamlessly.  How nice it is:-)

Radisson Blu Waterfront Jersey, Jersey

As you, the reader of this blog, know, there are several aspect I see with omelet, appearance which comes from how to cook, texture and taste, and I have been telling in the past articles that "seamless, round-shaped like rugby football" is one of the benchmark, and I could not hide my somehow disappointment with "three-folded" ones, as this should also lead relatively chewy, or to say not softened texture, while seamlessly rounded provides you juicy, half-cooked egg york with very softened texture thanks to many layered sheets of softly cooked and heated egg york like Mille fille.

Yes, I am great believer of seamless rounded omelet, so this time I got surprised with this; even two-folded, but texture was solely as expected to rounded one! Take out your perception...

Les Saisons, Imperial Hotel, Tokyo

A week ago, I was invited to a breakfast meeting with a gentleman from Hong Kong. He knew my favorite omelette, and he loves, as far as I understand, to come back here, so I could come back and enjoy this perfect dish of omelette again.

He told that he should go and see around Sendai area, as his fund has been investing into some companies in that area. I hope he could find how they are being positive to their lives despite of unfortunate devastation in this spring...

Le Cafe, Novotel Century, Hong Kong

And, no wonder I can put one from where I stayed honourably!

As usual, breakfast meeting is one of the biggest challenge as you have to eat for the rest of the day, but you also have to talk :D  So I can recall I was the last person to clean up dishes...

Clipper Lounge, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

I was back in Hong Kong short a while ago, and spent a week at Novotel Century, as none of 5 star hotels were available due to more visitors in the island (partially because of wealthy refugees from Tokyo as well as French bankers in Tokyo).  But, I was lucky enough to invite friends to breakfast to catch up, and it was good excuse to have nice breakfasts in Central area like Mandarin Oriental.

I suppose it was more than two years ago to hop around hotels in Hong Kong Island to compare omelet, and Clipper Lounge was one of destination.  They were serving three-folded omelet as same as other Hong Kong hotels, and this time again.  But I can recall their other selection of dishes increased.  Enjoy!

deVille, the Mandeville Hotel, London

Now I am back in London, and stayed at another hotel in Marylebone, London, The Mandeville.  Hotel itself is authentic, but, you can find its concept of "Devil" which comes from its location name "Man-deville", like Mad Martini etc.

Its restaurant, The deVille, is fine dining but has same taste of interior, purple logo, suitable for night-hours, but it serves breakfast, not just dinner.  At breakfast, it appears less selection for cold-cut, hams and bakons, baked tomato etc., as those are served on the plate together with egg you choose as above, good idea as you do not have to worry which to pick.  However, omelette is half-folded one, but you can enjoy soft-juicy rare-cooked egg inside.  Enjoy!

Checkers, Hilton Osaka, Japan

Hilton is, no need to say but, one of the largest hotel group and, thanks to that large network and quality assurance around the world, once you enter into the lobby you can feel "Hilton" and recall where you stayed at Hilton in the past. And, once you step into your room, you again feel same as ever. That is Hilton. You can feel to come back wherever you are. However, I would say, this is not applicable to our favorite, omelet.

You see this perfect shape, seamless omelet. I may have to say, this is "Japan quality" :-). You should meet this!
